Powering Students’ Future:

TC Energy Contributes to UH STEM, Business Programs

TC Energy has invested $390,000 to build student success and empowerment in the University of Houston’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Cullen College of Engineering and C. T. Bauer College of Business. The North American energy infrastructure company’s contribution, distributed over three years, will help further the fundamental mission of the colleges by fostering career readiness through educational and social opportunities.

UH President Renu Khator said the TC Energy gift will prepare the University’s STEM and business students for a promising future. “We are grateful for TC Energy’s strong belief in the higher education we provide,” Khator said. “The company’s generous investment in our students is helping them with the skills and confidence they need to thrive in their chosen fields.”

“TC Energy is committed to building strong communities through developing the next generation of energy problem solvers,” said Trevence Mitchell, manager, social impact at TC Energy. “Our partnership with the University of Houston enables us to support STEM students in honing both the technical and soft skills needed to thrive in school and their future careers.”

The TC Energy gift — the company’s largest contribution to UH — strengthens their continued investment in the TC Energy Summer Scholars Academy along with additional programs fostering personal and professional development for students within the three colleges.

TC Energy Summer Scholars Academy

This nine-week summer program supports students from diverse gender, ethnic and economic backgrounds. It strengthens their knowledge and understanding of challenging academic topics through peer-led workshops and mentorships, as well as traditional lectures. The program benefits students who have not met their STEM-major admission requirements and those who have been admitted to the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics or the Cullen College of Engineering. The TC Energy Summer Scholars Academy helps build the confidence and technical skills essential in the future workforce, particularly in the energy industry.

Student Engagement

The partnership with TC Energy supports the Accounting and Tax program and the Sourcing & Procurement Organization in the C. T. Bauer College of Business, fostering student achievement and career development. These programs facilitate a range of professional, personal and social development opportunities for students to round out their education in the fields of accounting and supply chain management.
